A WORLD VIEW - A CHINESE PERSPECTIVE
Low Carbon Design
China National Convention Center (CNCC) is jointly designed by the well-known RMJM architectural firm and the Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute. It strictly implements national standards in various links such as greening and environment, natural ventilation, power supply, lighting, central vacuuming, kitchen waste collection, and building materials and relevant international standards, providing a reference building model for the "Green Olympics".
Sunken Garden
There are skylights on the top, and three sunken garden structures which are 7 meters below the ground on the east side, and the air temperature is lower than the normal room temperature. Using the temperature difference between the upper and lower air, the fresh cold air in the sunken garden is discharged upward through the air duct, forming natural convection, and saving electricity through natural circulation.
Curtain Wall
The large-span light steel structure is used as the support system and the circulating heat energy is taken into account, which not only saves energy and electricity, but also maximizes the transparency and modernity of the building.
Walls and Roofs
It adopts lightweight materials with high sound insulation performance, which has made a good effect of sound insulation and noise reduction.
Hyperbolic Roof
The 60,000㎡roof with unique shape can collect about 7,000 m3 of rainwater every year, which can be used to water the plants in the sunken garden after treatment, thereby helping to reduce the ground temperature.
Three Recyclable Systems
Water recycling
Rainwater collection and utilization. On the roof , a siphonic drainage system is used to drain rainwater to three collection ponds built on the east, south and west sides of the venue respectively. 7,000 m3rainwater can be collected every year, which can be used to water the green space after being processed by the reclaimed water recycling center.
On one hand, Reclaimed water is used for cooling tower make-up. On the other hand, reclaimed water is used for toilet flushing, green sprinkler irrigation, cooling tower replenishment, etc., which greatly replaces the consumption of tap water. According to statistics, about 130,000 tons of tap water can be saved annually by recycling water.
Photothermal recycling
A large number of low-emission (Low-E) glass curtain walls were used on the east, south and north sides of the main building. The glass curtain wall has excellent thermal performance characteristics: low thermal radiation rate, two-way heat insulation, good optical performance, light transmittance above 60%, and low reflectivity, which can effectively reduce energy consumption of lighting, heating and cooling.
Recycling of wind
The inner street and exhibition hall of the China National Convention Center are naturally ventilated areas. Electric opening side windows are set on the upper part of the curtain wall on the west side. The sunken garden on the east side reduces the surface temperature. Through natural ventilation, the cold air in the garden will form convection with the ground part. It is mainly used in the transition season, about 50 days a year, and can save 380,000 kWh of electricity.
Integrating Reduction Into Sustainable Development
China National Convention Center advocates, supports, develops and maintains sustainable development with actions, and integrates reduction into sustainable development, such as strictly implement environmental management norms, exhibition cleaning requirements, garbage disposal norms, energy management norms and other standards; standardize green Purchasing system and building an electronic procurement platform, mobilizing the participation of all stakeholders including customers, and strictly selecting sustainable materials that are green, environmentally friendly and energy-saving; actively participate in supporting the economic development of Beijing, and give full play to the driving effect of the exhibition economy on the city’s GDP; A high-quality exhibition to meet the needs of citizens and enrich urban culture.
Green Culture
CNCC has always been striving to be the propagandist, practitioner and promoter of green exhibition.
Green Operation
“Innovation” and “frugality” are the key words.
Green Office
We always advocate the concept of green office, continue to focus on cultivating employees' awareness of environmental protection, actively call on employees to carry out environmental protection actions, and promote energy conservation and consumption reduction bit by bit.
